CoQ10 is a vitamin like substance found throughout the body and especially in the part of our cells called the mitochondria, where food is turned into energy.  Think of it as the spark plug in a car's engine. 

 

Finally, this important substance is significantly reduced when you use a statin medication such as Lipitor or Zocor.  If you are taking cholesterol lowering medications, you should definitely add CoQ 10 to your supplement list.
